Como perro y gato _ Cats and dogs are peas in a pod

Todos recibimos a Kieran felices, todos menos uno...obviamente a Júpiter no le pareció la mejor idea! Juro que cuando lo vió por primera vez entendí de golpe cuando en los dibujitos animados hacen que salgan chispas de odio de los ojos. Decir que salían rayos y centellas era poco, jaja! La verdad es que la pase mal por él los primeros días, estaba furioso y no había manera de que se acercara al perro.

We were very happy wellcoming Kieran, less one...Jupiter didn´t think it was a great idea! First time he saw him, I understood perfectly well when you see in cartoons someone throwing lightbolts through the eyes. It was not enough to say the cat hated the dog. I had a rough time the first days trying to get them along. The cat was simply mad, there was no way to get the pup near him.


Un cachorro de Shetland de 2 meses es la mitad de tamaño de un Siamés adulto, y encima el movía su colita queriendo jugar. Finalmente, todo cayó en su lugar y se entusiasmó con su nuevo compañero de juegos.Muy gracioso tirar una pelotita y que los dos corrieran juntos y que jugaran a la "lucha" como si fueran la misma especie.

A two months old Shetland puppy is half the size of an adult Siamese cat, he wagged his tail trying to play. At the end everything turned ok and the cat was pleased with his new playpal. They played retrieving the ball, that was funny, and "fight" understanding each other as if they were from same spieces.

Hay que desmitificar que los gatos no se llevan bien con los perros. Es una frase de vecina vieja. Evidentemente las dos especies "hablan" un idioma distinto, no solo en cuanto a maullidos y ladridos, sino también con el lenguaje corporal. Teniendo las precauciones necesarias, dándole espacio a cada uno, la amistad, o aunque sea la tolerancia, siempre terminan apareciendo. Yo tengo en este momento 5 gatos y 4 perros, la gente que viene a casa se asombra de la relación que tienen, como juegan juntos y comparten comida y cuchas sin inconvenientes. Hay uno de los perros que no juega con ellos, pero los tolera sin problema; y una de las gatas al revés. El resto felices y sin problemas.

That cats and dogs never get along well is a lie. An old saying.  Obviously are different animals, and each speaks his own "language", not only meowing and barking also body language is very different and important. Taking all the precautions, and giving them space and time, tolerance always appears, even friendship. I had at this moment five cats and four dogs, people caming home can´t believe the relationship between them, they play together, eat together and sleep together. One of the dog don´t play with them but tolerates them, and the same happens with one of the cats. The other ones live forever happily!

Mi teoría amateur de observarlos, es que ambos bandos terminan confiando en el otro al ver que no hay agresión, y encuentran una manera de decodificar el lenguaje del otro. Por ejemplo, un perro mueve la cola cuando está feliz, un gato mueve la cola así de rápido cuando está muy nervioso y a punto de atacar en defensa propia. Sería algo asi como cuando se encuentran dos chicos que hablan en distinto idioma, siempre, tarde o temprano, terminan entendiendose y jugando sin problemas, y cuanto más chicos, más fácil. Se aplica también esto a perros y gatos. Hay cosas que facilitan la relación entre ellos. Es más fácil con ciertas razas, con cachorros, pero se logra.

My amateur theory of just looking them interact, is that both species end trusting when they see there´s no agression and they find a way to decode the "foreign language". For example when a dog is wagging his tail is telling that he´s happy and wants to play. A cat only wags his tail so fast wheen is nervous or about to attack. It´s like children, sooner or later, kids from different cultures learn to play along whithout any problem, despise they have different languages. A few things make the relationship easier. It´s easy with some breeds and when they are puppys. The younger, the better, but deffinitly once and for all really happens.
